Remember The Rainbow

Often we experience setbacks and off-days, then have a tendency to blame the devil. We might say, “The devil made me do it” or “Satan’s at it again!”
Side tip: Never glorify the antics of the devil more than the works of God.
But we need to remember that God’s always got a beautiful lesson on the other side of that situation. Case in point: the severe thunderstorm that rolled through my little town just a few days ago.

It's absolutely wild how God works. What seems mildly inconveniencing ends up being a life lesson.
~ ~ ~
It all started with the dreaded time crunch. We all know what that's like; not enough hours in the day to do the things that need to get done. It seemed like everything and everyone begged for my attention.
Later that day, my mind instantly spiraled upon finding out that a friend of mine had a blowout in the middle of rush hour traffic. At about the same time, I'd had a near run-in with another vehicle in the parking lot; he came barreling toward me with no intention of stopping.
After chilling out in a parking space for a few moments, my boyfriend and I went into the local thrift store. As we walked toward the store, I looked up and noticed storm clouds brewing in the distance. I thought nothing of it.
A few minutes into our venture to find...who knows what...he found me and said, "Uh when did it start raining?" Sure enough, it was pouring and we could hear it pounding on the roof. A textbook severe thunderstorm was sitting right on top of us.
But God...
We stepped out of the other store we took shelter in and saw a giant double rainbow (pictured above). People were getting out of their cars laughing, smiling, and pointing. Suddenly the storm didn't matter anymore. God was reminding me to keep my eyes on Him. The rainbow grew even more intense, and eventually we could see BOTH ends of it on the actual highway.
We eventually made it to the van and I was instantly reminded of a song that we do at church. The line goes, "Rain came, wind blew, my house was built on You...I'm safe with You, I'm gonna make it through."
Even through all those inconveniences and chaotic moments, God was there. He used those moments to draw me closer to Himself and remind me that life isn't about me. That storm was an inconvenience to me. That near-collision in the parking lot shook me up and made me angry. But God sent a rainbow to slow me down and point me back to Him.
The Point
Have you ever had one of those days? Consider that it may not be the work of Satan. It may be God trying to slow you down and remind you that He is in control.
Remember the rainbow.
