The past two and a half weeks haven’t been pleasant. There aren’t words to describe how horrific recent events have gotten. I’ve seen people ask where God is in all of this. Why would such a loving, gracious God allow the monstrosities that we’ve seen? I don’t have all the answers. I don’t have a platitude that I can offer. But I do have a message of hope.
I’ll tell you exactly where God is. He is on His throne. He is not taken by surprise at the things going on, whether it be the catastrophic things taking place overseas, or what you’ve got going on in your home. God is right there waiting for you to call out to Him.
We may not be able to physically see God’s hand reaching out to stop the chaos, but if we choose to have faith, we can know that He is working behind the scenes. He is perfectly aware of the troubles and trials that we suffer. All we have to do is step out and say, “Lord, forgive me for my unbelief.”
Things look bad. Things look hopeless. Things don’t look like they’re going to get any better any time soon. But look to Jesus. As the hymnist would have us do,
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace
I encourage you today to pray for all of our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world. Pray for the situation in Europe. Will you take that stand for them?
